The information below relates to our 2017 'Rebuild & Trek' programme, which ran 18-28 November 2017. We will be running at least one sponsored trek in November 2018 - the programme is currently being planned and details will appear here as soon as they are confirmed (we usually have all details confirmed in early January). In the meantime, please read below to get a good idea of what the trip will entail, and if you would like to register your interest for joining this unique adventure in 2018, please email james@nerfinternational.org.

Feedback from individuals on the 2016 trip.

We are very excited to announce that, following the success of 2016's inaugural NERF trip, we are leading another sponsored trek through Nepal in November this year. Read below for more information and get in touch ASAP with james@nerfinternational.org if you are interested in taking part - spaces are very limited and will fill up fast!

Background

The 7.8 earthquake that struck Nepal on 25 April 2015 killed over 8800, injured more than 21,000, and destroyed the homes of 3.5 million people. Despite two years having passed since this disaster, rebuilding and recovery has been painfully slow and the severe humanitarian crisis in the country continues. This is the reason we are leading a team on a sponsored trek through some of the devastated villages in the Sinhupalchowk region - one of the regions worst hit by the earthquake. All the funds raised here will be used to help rebuild the villages and livelihoods of the families and communities most in need in this area. We will be delivering reconstruction materials and other much-needed aid, as well as providing hands-on assistance in the rebuilding process. 100% of the funds raised through sponsorship will go directly to those in need in the villages surrounding the location of the trek*.

Rebuild and Trek!

We have once again teamed up with our dear friend, advisor and tour guide extraordinaire, Beebal Singh Limbu, to create this fantastic opportunity to not only trek through some of Nepal's most awe inspiring scenery but to also play a very active and direct part in helping with the post earthquake rebuilding process. Please see the bottom of this page for a link to download the full itinerary, but a brief outline is as follows: We will start and finish the adventure in Kathmandu, Nepal's lively and colourful capital city. From here, we'll head out to remote Yarsa Village in the Sindhupalchowk district. The first couple of days in the village will be spent giving hands on reconstruction help to the villagers, before we embark on a four day trek through the astonishingly beautiful surrounding mountainsides, culminating in a breathtaking overnight stop at 3200m with spectacular views of the surrounding Himalayan snowcapped mountaintops. The journey will end with an overnight stay at a relaxing riverside resort, before we return for a final night in Kathmandu and then head home!

Sponsorship*

All the intrepid individuals on this memorable journey will be asked to try and raise £500 of sponsorship money before November 2017. We have made this as easy as possible by setting up a dedicated JustGiving page for NERF. Trekkers simply have to click the 'Fundraise for us' button and in a couple of ticks they will have their own Nepal Trek sponsorship page up and running. The NERF Trustees will be on hand to help you with your fundraising efforts from the very beginning and will support you all the way to reaching your fundraising target!

(*If the total amount of sponsorship funds raised by trekkers exceed the required funds for projects NERF is currently working on in this region of Nepal, we reserve the right to use the funds for other projects we are working on in the country. All our projects are carried out in partnership with thoroughly-vetted local NGOs and all the work we do is in line with our overall mission and values).

(**Our tour provider quotes prices for this trip in $US and we have to convert to £GBP to work out the price for our clients. Please be aware that market forces and currency volatility are beyond our control - there is a margin for some exchange rate fluctuations in the quoted tour price but any huge changes may result in a slight price increase or decrease).
