Frequently Asked Questions
Where do my donations go?
Your donations go directly toward our projects in Nepal. At this time, we do not spend donations on fundraising administration costs or trustee expenses.
Does NERF give grants to UK institutions?
We do not make grants to UK institutions, only to registered Nepali organisations. However, we do partner with UK organisations and UK-based funders that operate in Nepal.
Are NERF’s projects solely earthquake related?
In accordance with the NERF constitution, we are permitted to involve ourselves with projects that go beyond the scope of the 2015 earthquake, provided that our projects are aimed at improving the lives of disadvantaged groups in Nepal. This may be done through improvements to education, access to water, or access to health.
What is NERF’s local presence in Nepal?
NERF has a Trustee who is based in Nepal for part of the year, plus two local team members who support us with our projects on the ground and a small but growing network of trained Nepalese volunteers. Local staff from our on-the-ground partners also work collaboratively with NERF on all of our projects. We are currently recruiting for a Nepali Trustee to join our volunteer board - if you know someone who would be interested in this opportunity please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. This is far from tokenism - ultimately, NERF will be handed over to locals based in Nepal. It will be a Nepalese charity run by Nepalese people.
